The Ballast Trust has a collection of photographs and negatives taken by Dan McDonald and bought by Bill Lind.
The collection is comprised of over 5,000 of Dan McDonald's negatives. It contains images of puffers, steamers, fishing vessels, yachts and also several views of coastal towns and harbours.
The San Francisco History Center Subject Collection consists of photographs, from the 1850s to the present. The collection contains over a 1000 ships images in an easy to search data base.
University of Washington Digital Collection has many photos of vessels visiting Tacoma, Puget Sound, Columbia River etc.

Photopolis is a major photographic digitisation programme undertaken by Dundee City Council with funding from the Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network (SCRAN). A selection of high-quality photographs from various collections in the Central Library and the City Archives have been digitised to a high resolution. The majority of photographs are the work of Alexander Wilson.
